Procedure to obtain a copy of public records, including Local Background Checks

You may request in person by coming to the Sheriff’s Office in the Dixie County Courthouse at 214 NE 351 Highway, Suite L, and a copy will be provided. The request will not be returned if the case is under investigation.

You may also make a written request via US Mail. Please provide a self-addressed stamped envelope sufficient for such requested document(s). The appropriate research will be conducted upon receipt of the mailed request, and the requested document(s) will be returned via US Mail within five business days. If the case is under investigation, the request will not be returned; however, you will be notified via return mail.

You may also conduct a background check through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, which will contain any criminal arrest information for the entire State of Florida.
