Communications Division

The Communications Center comprises the front-line Public Safety Dispatchers and Supervisor, who staff the Communications Center on a 24/7 basis. The Communications Center receives relays and processes all calls for public safety assistance or information.

Dispatchers answer incoming telephone calls received on emergency 9-1-1 lines, administrative non-emergency lines, and various other sources. These calls are triaged to determine the required type and level of services. Dispatchers have a wide array of information resources available, which allow them to provide the most effective level of assistance needed for the situation. Calls are entered into a Computer Aided Dispatch system (CAD) and dispatched to Law Enforcement or the appropriate Fire and Emergency Medical Service resource to the scene.

The Communications Center is our Public Safety Answering Point’s “primary focal point” throughout Dixie County. Beginning with the initial 9-1-1 call for help and ending when the last public safety unit leaves the scene, the Communications Center is the lifeline of our organization. It provides critical emergency services our community depends on.
